Ineia
Cyprus is an island country at the far eastern end of the Mediterranean and surrounded by Middle East countries. The station is located nearby the sea at a remote location (INEIA) of the western coast of Cyprus, within the Akamas Peninsula (National Park). The prevailing winds are westerlies, therefore originating from the marine sector and enabling continuous observations of (Eastern) European emissions outflow. The INEIA atmospheric observatory is located at the top of the highest hill of the peninsula (650m above sea level), samples air from a telecommunication tower, and collects greenhouse gases and weather data since December 2021.
